Investigation of the shelf of the Arctic seas of the Russian Federation at the R/V "Akademik Mstislav Keldysh" (cruise 73), 2018

In September - October 2018, the company's employees participated in an expedition to the Arctic seas of the Russian Federation aboard the R / V “Akademik Mstislav Keldysh”. The work was carried out jointly with the Pacific Oceanological Institute (POI FEB RAS), the Institute of Oceanology named after P.P. Shirshov and the Faculty of Geology MSU. Lomonosov.

The main goal of the work is to study the shelf cryolithozone and estimate the depth of the roof and the bottom of the permafrost under the waters of the Arctic seas.

In the course of the work, the already well-proven method of electromagnetic sounding was used, to be precise - sounding by the formation of a field in the near zone (ESB).

The excitation of the electric field in the ground was carried out by induction. The components of the generated fields were measured using several pairs of measuring electrodes M and N, which were located along the receiving streamer. The arrangement of the pairs of measuring electrodes makes it possible to obtain detailed geoelectric sections up to depths of about 1000 m.
